Divine Dictation

Reflections of a Grateful Apprentice

Written by Nancy Sheffey

“Out of the Blue”
Idiom meaning “unexpectedly; without warning.”

That’s how it comes.

That’s how I came - I was unexpected. Yet, here I am!

And that’s how all that lives inside this book came.

I love words. They are the only way I have to understand the world and all that dwells therein. They are the only way I have to be understood in that world. I am ordered by them and I order with them. They give meaning to life.

I love The Word. Jesus. The apostle John called Him that in his book inside our Book and that’s how all that lives inside that book came too.

The Year of “Yes!”

For many years I have been telling stories and singing songs and teaching what I am learning from loving The Word, Jesus, and many have asked me when I was going to put all those words in a book.  The thought of doing that sounded like too much work to me.  I didn’t want to take the time away from my walking, talking, living, laughing, loving, learning Life with Trinity to write and publish a book.  I even came up with a catchy response that was more deflection than truth: “The book is already written.  I’m just sharing from it”.

 That worked until January 2025.

Every Christmas I ask Trinity to give me a word or words as our “theme” for the new year and 2025’s was : “The Year of “Yes!”  I knew it was an answer to my prayers for freedom from unhealthy resisting and opposing in deep places.  I was excited. Some forays in this early on in January were amazingly liberating!  I was ALL IN!!  And that’s, LOL, how They hooked me!

My dear friend Ilse, unexpectedly and without warning, had taken “The Miracle Mothers of Christmas” poem and beautifully transcribed it on parchment paper over a watermark of a pregnant woman. She handed it to me January 9, 2025 during lunch at Panera Bread. Unexpectedly and without warning tears filled my eyes!  I was stunned!  “What is going on?  Why am I crying?” my soul whispered to Papa. Unexpectedly, without warning He whispered back, “It’s time.  This is the book you will birth into the world.  Elizabeth, Mary, and Sarah did it, so can you.  You shall name it “Divine Dictation” cause that’s what it is.  You shall wrap it in blue sky because that’s how it comes:  “out of the blue”.”

It’s “gestation” period has only been surpassed by that of an Indian elephant but the Father is the one in charge of “due time” so no shame or apology in that.

And that’s how “Divine Dictation: Reflections of a Grateful Apprentice” came.

Unexpected, without warning Yet, here it is.

It is our (The 3in1 and I) desire that this little book compels you and propels you, dear reader, into apprenticeship to Jesus. He is the only Way I have to understand the world and all that dwells therein. He’s the only Way I have to be understood in that world. I am ordered by Him and I order with Him.  He gives meaning to life.

Praying you in…and on,

Nancy
